Meet Audrey Preston
Creator of The Peaceful Cat Method™ and author of The Essential Guide to Cat Behavior
I’ve spent 15 years studying feline behavior—not just academically, but in the trenches, working with thousands of frustrated cat parents who were at the end of their rope.
Before becoming a cat behavior specialist, I was one of those frustrated owners. My cat, Oliver, was a furniture-destroying, 3 AM yowling, litter box-avoiding nightmare. I loved him desperately, but I was exhausted. I tried everything the internet told me to try. Nothing worked.
That frustration sent me down a rabbit hole of feline behavioral science. I read every study I could find. I worked with veterinary behaviorists. I observed cats in shelters, homes, and sanctuaries. And slowly, patterns emerged—patterns that the generic advice completely missed.
What I Discovered
Most cat behavior advice fails because it treats symptoms, not causes. “Get a scratching post!” doesn’t work if the post is the wrong texture, in the wrong location, or if your cat is scratching for reasons that have nothing to do with claw maintenance.
Cats aren’t being “bad” or “difficult.” They’re communicating. Every scratched couch, every accident outside the litter box, every 3 AM concert—it’s all communication. Once you learn to read it, everything changes.
That’s why I created The PEACE Method™—a systematic approach that addresses root causes rather than surface symptoms. It’s the framework I wish I’d had with Oliver, and it’s helped over 2,400 cat parents transform their homes from battlegrounds into peaceful havens.
My Approach
I believe in:
- Science over superstition — Every recommendation is grounded in peer-reviewed feline behavioral research
- Compassion over punishment — Fear and aversion create more problems than they solve
- Understanding over frustration — When you understand why your cat does what they do, the frustration melts away
- Practical solutions — Real-world protocols that fit into busy lives, not theoretical ideals
If you’re exhausted, frustrated, and wondering if you’ll ever have a peaceful relationship with your cat—I understand. I’ve been there. And I promise you: with the right approach, transformation is possible.
